Yup I got an error, blue screen of death, and I exactly did what you said, I even did backups because it happened only after updates. Still the same. I will format my PC soon to make sure it's ok. Looks like it's not my PC the problem... I hope it's not a virus or something.. Just that my screen closes itself sometime..

Jump 6 is only needing some lighting and texture aligning and it's done! (Just needs a minor brushwork I haven't yet done).
Sadly I was stupid enough to align all the textures on the other map file I was working on, and now when I copied and pasted it, it just went out of place...

Ah, curious: how many projects have you running now?
lotr, somejumps, any other adopted maps?
the "Sadly I was stupid enough to align all the textures on the other map file I was working on, and now when I copied and pasted it, it just went out of place... " is way to mappy for me, i understand little of detailing, 'out of placing ^^', lightning, texture aligning etc.

From what I understand is that all the mapping (modelling?) development tools (GTKRadiant, ZeroRadiant etcetera) are crappy in some way. Because having entities in the void for no reason all of the sudden, copy pasting that goes wrong, leaks without cause... pretty weird all that.

+ I had fixed a ton of bugs in the way..

I wanted to release another test version today..

Made a fresh install today.
I'll be configuring my PC over the next 2 days and then Ill be ready to keep working on Lotr!!!!

no, opposite.
In the current version of lotr there are plenty of possibilities to lemming, including falling through the respawnbrush etc.
Better improve the respawn and make all platforms nodamage smile

My compilers dont work anymore so it'll take a while till I release a new test version.
Meanwhile, here are some screens of my latest work (GTK Print Screens -> A lot different without lighting, but its okay).

Hope I am matching xSm3agol's expectations ^^


EDIT:
- The Spawn in Jump7 might be a bit tight but im lacking space and I don't really feel like making more transitions..
- Still missing Light on jump 6
- Still need to hint Jump 4, 5 and 6.
- Still need to clip the rocks in the cave..
- Still need to add some more plants in the cave to make it look more realistic...

How awesome do you think Lotr would be with Fancy Water?
Also, once the map is done I intend to work on a ut4_lotr_hd version of the map, containing Bump and Normal maps, aswell as Fancy Water

- Hinted some other parts of the map and styled some other stuff.
- Made the Spawns in Jump7.
- Changed the method of going from J1 to J2, now you need to make the jump and there's a passage on top. No more opening the door for newbs.

Working on this map has really make me improve my texturing and design skills..
Texture management, shaders understadment, etc...
I'm sure it'll make all my future maps be a lot better (somejumps and xanjumps)!

Map progress will slow down a bit as i've 3 broken fingers..

- Moving Clouds to the skybox
- Thunder lightnings to the skybox

Now the map has Rain! wink
And on that room with the engine, I lowered the sound of it, added a ladder to go back up and added white fog to the ground.

Tomorrow I've to do some boring work hmm but if everything goes as planned, by tomorrow I'll have:
- Jump6 finished (Lighting left)
- Jump7 finished (Making Brushes, Texturing, Lighting)
- Map will be hinted from the beginning of it till Jump 7 (end of it)
- Cave will look more realistic and the rock from it will have phong shading applied.

My compiler still doesn't work.
Hopefully I'll fix everything out tomorrow

As your post was made at 00:25, is the tomorrow the day after your slept, which is today. or the day after the time you posted, which is tomorrow => monday?

A cave, nice! eh, where? from J7 to J8? or something?

You've ut4_lotr_final on the unsorted maps section. you can take a look.

3rd:

Phong shading makes the rocks look smoother big_smile
( I also blended 2 textures to modify the rock texture, so now i've a different rock texture, very similar though)

Didn't do everything I had planned because some other stuff got in the way, but:
- Played around with some textures and texture blending to make the Cave look more organic.
- Applied Phong Shading to the rock and ground textures.
- Cleaned up my textures folder, scripts and others, to reduce the pk3 size.
- Added a couple more textures
- Finished texturing and detaiiling Jump7 (just some texture aligning left to be made, only 3 brushes though).
- Hinted Jump 4 and the Engine Room.
- Modified a couple textures around the map and caulked some areas.

Left to do:
- Hint the rest of the map till Jump7.
- Add lights to jump 6 and 7.
- Add rocks and plants to the cave.
- Align a couple textures.

Once I've this done and manage to get my compiler working I'll release a new test version.!
Let's get this rockin people! big_smile
